This classic Vancouver scene is what you see when you cross the Granville Street bridge. It includes the mountain backdrop, a bit of Stanley Park, the Granville Island ferry terminal, and the lovely art deco Burrard Street bridge surrounded by boats and buildings.
I wanted to emphasize the contrast of the uniformly designed and reflective downtown office buildings against the neon-bright ex-industrial Granville Island community. The downtown buildings always seem tall and willowy but all very similar, like a field of flowers turning towards the sun while Granville Island is all crazy-irregular and bright.
