Design work on a series of 24’x17′ theatrical backdrops for a satiric version of a “Jack and the Beanstalk” Panto set in East Van. This is the second backdrop of Jack’s house. The style of the house is a Vancouver Special with a cutout kitchen so the audience can see Jack’s interior and exterior environment. Inside is all Crayola rainbow colors, sparse retro-style appliances, an empty cupboard, and pictures on the fridge. Outside, there’s a compost bin, the usual blue and green box recycling bins as well as lush, overgrown foliage. It’s a happy environmentally-conscious house. If you look closely, you can see over a half-dozen smiling faces buried in the appliances and the anthropomorphic structure of the house itself. Everything smiles; it’s a happy home.
