Cherry blossoms and twilight.
I started and then abandoned this one in the spring of 2025. I wanted to capture the fleeting soufflé of cherry blossom trees and that transient glow of late spring but Mother’s Day, grief inertia, and just not being able to struggle through because sometimes inspiration is as hard to hold on to as time. All I knew is that the sky had to be purple and the cherry blossoms had to have that ridiculously pink fluffiness, even in encroaching darkness.
So now it’s finally done, which I guess is appropriate for a painting that contemplates the fleeting nature of time. Tempus fugit, memento mori.
